The winner of RTE’s ‘Super Garden’, Mary Anne Farenden, is joining NI Property Hub as a columnist.
An architect graduate, artist, and singer, Farenden was crowned the winner of the hit gardening show after transforming the garden of a family in County Meath, Ireland into an enchanted woodland-inspired outdoor space. Working to a tight schedule of a mere 5 weeks and equipped with a budget of only €15,000, Farenden drew inspiration from nature and ancient Irish history to create a truly stunning outdoor area that all of the family could enjoy.
Since winning ‘Super Garden’, Farenden has gone on to create a garden space at Bord Bia’s ‘Bloom’ festival, re-creating the enchanted woodland for the tens of thousands of people that attended the gardening festival to see.
A multi-talented individual, Farenden has also gone on to establish her small business, ‘Mary Anne Designs’, in order to combine her various creative ventures, ranging from garden design and installation, to chalkboard art and baking.
Having recently completed studying horticulture at the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise in Greenmount, Farenden knows well the intricacies of cultivating an outdoor environment that suits every want and need. Now, she’ll be bringing her expertise to NI Property Hub.
In her new position as a columnist, Farenden will provide NI Property Hub readers with advice and guidance on gardening and landscape design, helping property owners to improve and effectively make use of their outdoor space.
Mary Anne’s columns will serve as a source of well-informed advice for those seeking to develop their garden space, whether the goal is to create a family garden to be enjoyed in the summertime, or whether the aim is simply to revamp an outdoor space to increase a property’s value. Farenden’s advice will help readers to transform their gardens whilst still maintaining a balance between functionality and aesthetics.
Farenden’s columns will be accessible for both gardening enthusiasts and novices, with tips, tricks and how-to guides that are easy to follow along at home. She hopes to encourage people to get out into their gardens, to feel confident in their abilities, and to know that gardening doesn’t have to be complicated or daunting.
